coHousing Barcelona SCCL was founded by people who wish to develop new housing models and encourage access to communal and sustainable housing by breaking with the traditional mentality of housing as a safe investment only. We promote a model of communal living which involves people in housing cooperatives who wish to stay in their neighbourhoods against all odds – namely the powers of big investment and gentrification.
One of the main characteristics of coHousing Barcelona SCCL consists of joint management. While each family unit occupies its own space, the planning and building phases as well as the maintenance and the common spaces of the new buildings are managed jointly. In this sense at coHousing Barcelona SCCL we turn our common ideas into a communal reality.Read More
The involvement in the process of creating cohousing fosters co-responsibility among its members. In addition, the provision of collective housing involves a process of empowerment, since instead of satisfying the need for housing individually through a pure economic exchange, the cooperative allows access to housing in a collective way and in better conditions.

Coousing enables communities that are made of private and shared spaces. The members decides which spaces they want to share and who whom. The main advantage of living in cohousing is that, although individual housing units may have reduced surface areas, they are complemented by common space - allowing for activities that in a conventional home could not be done.
